April Challenge - Day 10 - 16: Bad poster...

I've been a terrible blogger. Just terrible. It's been a jam packed week but that's no excuse for bad blogging. Rather than trying to make up each day as I have done before - I'll save everyone's time by putting it all into one blog posting.

Monday - cardio - 7k on the dreadmill, I mean treadmill.
Tuesday - weights (focusing on arms)
Wednesday - cardio - 6k with the Sporting Life team at Queen's Park.
Thursday - weights (focus on legs)
Friday - after having dinner with a client, it was to the gym to concentrate on core. I can't say this was the best idea this week
Saturday - I was pretty sick, so my focus was on exercises that wouldn't aggrevate my stomach...so it was just arms today.
Sunday - 8k run - felt good, but would have been better outside

This week, I'll be better at posting. I promise.

March Challenge - Day 14: Sh*t My Dad Says

I recently borrowed the book Sh*t My Dad Says from my friend Jean. This has got to be one of the funniest books I've ever read. It's so funny that I almost fell over the stairclimber at the gym while reading.

This book started off as a Twitter account and soon grew to be so popular that it was turned into a book...and now a TV show. Fuck, if only my Twitter feed could take off that way!

The book led me to think about all the funny things my dad has said over the years. The difference between my dad and the dad in the book is that my dad rarely means to be funny, it just comes out that way due to the fact he doesn't know English all that well. Some of the best lines were:

- "Hello son Terence, please do not drive to Ottawa. It is far, and you will get sleepy, tired and die." (I'm thinking he meant to say, I'd get tired and fall asleep at the wheel causing an accident, but it seems he cut right to the chase)

- "Hello son Terence, I have started eating healthy and no meat. I am a vagetarian" (true spelling, caused torrents of laughter.)

- "Hello son Terence, I've given your brother $1000, $500 to spend on his next flight to Taiwan (um, does he know how much a round trip cost to Asia?) and $500 for him to go buy meat." (apparently, it's okay for us not to be vegetarians).

I do love that my dad provides my brother and I with such great entertainment. Perhaps I should start my own Twitter feed on him.

February Challenge - Day 14: Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's Day. The day that helps raise flower, greeting card and chocolate sales up by 1000%. Definitely not the best day to be on a diet or on a healthy eating streak like mine.

Not only was the office filled with temptations today (boxes of chips and a bowl of truffles), walking into the supermarket to pick up groceries was not the best idea. As the picture on the left shows, this was the desserts section for all the singles this Valentine's Day. For all those who don't have others to share a sweet dessert with, these single serving slices of cake and pie serve as small reminders to those lonely hearts, you are eating for one. I'd hate to pass the bakery and the number of Valentine's inspired cakes, pastries and pies available for last minute purchase.

Thank goodness I quickly shuffled by this display and onto the produce section and reached for a pint of strawberries. While not covered with chocolate, it's the healthy alternative, and at $1.97 a pint, a great deal.

One last thing - to all those men who think picking up flowers at your local convenience store or grocery store is a good idea, you should think again. That might have worked when you were under 12 and getting a bouquet for your mom on Mother's Day, it's not going to work with the one you supposedly love. I don't know how guys still don't get this as I saw at least 4 people in line with bouquets in hand.

The simple fact is...show up with shitty flowers, don't expect any hanky panky tonight.

January Challenge - Day 14: Golden Globes night with no booze

I've officially hit my halfway point in my 28 day challenge. Hurrah! Who knew I could make it this far? With 14 days left to go and a big Yahoo! party smack dab in the centre, the biggest challenge is yet to come.

On another note, tonight, the Golden Globes are on. Yes, it's that time of year that Hollywood starts giving out awards and I get giddy watching my favourite stars and movies win those awards. The Golden Globes, while not having the stature of the Oscars, is by far the best to watch because of all the funny moments that have happened. Especially around drinking. The Golden Globes is the only award show that allows drinking while the awards are going on. Who can forget this great moment when Ricky Gervais introduces Mel Gibson (Ricky, by the way is hosting tonight's awards):

Catch all the action live at 8pm on CTV or NBC. I will also be reporting live, from my couch, and offering my two cents on speeches, dresses and people. Catch that live on Facebook.
